The free-style social dancing is where you have fun with material you learnt earlier. It's amazing value, and you will be learning from excellent instructors and within a consistent structure and consistent teaching throughout the levels. Becasue we have a Team and don't use "guest" instructors each week, you get a consistency here that is unobtainable elsewhere.

Learning to dance Salsa is just like learning anything else. At first you can't quite understand what you are trying to learn. Then with good instruction and practice it starts to make sense and the basics begin to become automatic. Like learning to drive, no one can execute smooth gear changes on their first day, then after a short while one day you have an "ah-ha" moment and things click. When you have your gear changes automatic and you can do them at a subconscious level you can get on with job of becoming a skilful and creative driver. The same is true for dancing, as the basics become automatic things click and your dancing transforms into truly creative and exciting activity. At Salsa Machine were are experts at nurturing you through this process, and we use some clever teaching tools to facilitate your journey into accomplished and confident dancer. In fact, to be the best dancer you can be :-)

Salsa dancing is a particularly sociable and fun thing to do because it is very low pressure, and you can either watch, listen or dance or chat, have a drink or chill out, so you can draw whatever you want from it. It's one of the best environments to build self confidence and meet new people of the same and opposite sex in the safest environment with no implied agenda.

My advice is stop filling your time with looking cat videos on YouTube (although this is worthy pastime in which I myself participate in) and marvelling at other people's Selfies on Facebook and instead connect with the Latin Rhythm that is Salsa! You can always watch cat videos after you come from an evening of fun and dancing...see!...best of both Worlds!

To start all you have to do is turn up. It's that simple. We'll do the rest.
It can be a bit daunting arriving somewhere new, but we already know this and we'll make you feel welcome and comfortable. The Beginners' Class has it's own instructor so you won't be in with loads of people that already have experience. We will take you gently and clearly through all the things you need to know. You don't need a partner as the classes take that into account - it makes no difference if you come with someone or not, so you can breathe easy.
Try to arrive a little early to allow for getting in and settled, find a chair to put your things, get a drink and absorb the ambience. Remember, there is a Latin social freestyle practice section where you can put what you've learnt into practice. Obviously at the start you may want to just watch and see how it all works, but my advice is to get stuck in and get some dance miles under your shoe leather....you can't really improve by watching! It's very low pressure, so you are not expected to dance if you don't want to yet :-)
